The Experimental Lyceum of Creativity and Invention “Prometeu” was born two days after
the Declaration of Independence of the Republic of Moldova – by the Governmental
Decision no. 473 dated August 29, 1991.
The legislation from that period did not allow the establishment of private schools; in
this context, the Creative Association “TOCONO” (“Everything for Our Children”) managed to obtain the direct approval of the President Mircea Snegur, assuming the
entire responsibility for the proper management of a new “experiment” in the post-soviet
educational practice. Subsequently, based on the experience of
the Lyceum “Prometeu” (which has generated a legal precedent), stipulations related to the alternative education have been included in the Law on Education no.547 dated
21.07.1995.
The Lyceum was founded with the aim of reforming the national school in the spirit of democracy, patriotism and application of the general-human and Christian principles in the educational process of the young generation. As theoretical support of the Lyceum, there served the “Concept of the development of the pupil’s personality under the conditions of the alternative education”, elaborated by the PhD in Psychology Aurelian
Silvestru, approved within the College of the Ministry of Education (on 30.05.1989) and published in the weekly newspaper “Faclia” (on 05.01.1990). The close collaboration with the Association “TOCONO” (Aurelian Silvestru) also involved: the technical-scientific enterprise “Planta-Vin” LLC (Stefan Cioclea) and the research and production company “A.F.N.” LLC (Tudor Nicu).
The motto of the Lyceum: “Health, intelligence and talent, joined by culture in a creative
personality, able to represent our country with dignity and patriotic spirit throughout the world and to contribute to the prosperity of the entire nation”.
Two years after its establishment, by virtue of the fact that the number of pupils enrolled
at “Prometeu” was intensely increasing, there was initiated the construction of new educational premises (on 2, N. Iorga Str. and on 117, A. Sciusev Str.). The architectural complex was designed by its author, A. Silvestru, so that the pupils from primary education would have autonomy and would be trained without the “influences” of upper school students. This fact has allowed their affirmative unfettering and the speed-up of their educational maturation. One of the innovative pillars of the Lyceum “Prometeu” was the introduction of religion as an object of study since the early days of the functioning of the institution. In year 2001, there have been opened the doors of the Church “Sfanta Treime” (“Holy Trinity”), built in the premises of the primary education. Thus, the Lyceum became the first private institution from the Republic of Moldova having a worship house built for children.
In year 2006, the legislation of the Republic of Moldova regarding the operation of alternative schools has been changed imposing their re-recording not as limited liability
companies, but as private education institutions. Given the fact that the name of the new institution had to be changed, we have registered within the Ministry of Justice as the Lyceum of Creativity and Invention “Prometeu-Prim”, having as Associates the following three organizations: “TOCONO”, “Planta-Vin” LLC and “A.F.N.” LLC. Four years later, in December 2010, with an unanimous decision of the Associates of this institution, the Lyceum “Prometeu-Prim” has been reorganized, by division, into two separate educational institutions: Lyceum “Prometeu-Prim” (Vth-XIIth grade) and Primary School of Creativity and Invention “Prometeu-Junior” (Ist-IVth grade).
According to the legal requirements, in year 2007, the Lyceum has undergone accreditation. After three months of thorough examination of the scholastic documentation and the means of application in practice of the state educational standards, the commission has adopted, with the maximum score, the decision on the Accreditation of the Lyceum of Creativity and Invention “Prometeu- Prim” (no. 1218 dated 27.XII.2007).
Year after year, according to the studies conducted by the Ministry of Education, the Lyceum “Prometeu” is among the best institutions of pre-university education in the Republic of Moldova, while in year 2016, it won first place in the country, with the highest
general average at baccalaureate exams.
